The Queen of Afrobeats, Tiwa Savage, has found herself at the center of heated controversy after replying to online critic Emmanuel Philip, popularly known as Naijashimadun.

The drama started when a video surfaced online showing Tiwa Savage speaking candidly about the Nigerian music industry, calling it “full of darkness.”

The statement quickly stirred reactions, but none more fiery than Naijashimadun’s response.

In his video, Naijashimadun didn’t hold back, accusing Tiwa Savage of being part of the same “darkness” she spoke about. He further argued that the award-winning singer should have taken on the role of a godmother in the industry, using her influence to support younger female artists.

According to him, Tiwa’s alleged failure to uplift emerging female acts is one of the reasons her latest album “This One Is Personal” reportedly underperformed.

“Instead of helping the next generation, she closed the doors. That’s why her album flopped”, he claimed in Yoruba.

But Tiwa wasn’t about to let the criticism slide. In a video she shared — which she revealed she had to sneak out of her team’s presence to record while at the airport — the singer directly blasted Naijashimadun.

“I have to respect you because you look older, but Sir, are you okay? Are you normal?” she fired back, visibly upset.

The clip has since gone viral, with fans split on the matter. While some defend Tiwa, praising her boldness and resilience in a male-dominated industry, others believe Naijashimadun raised valid points about the lack of female collaborations and support within Afrobeats.

The question now stirring social media is: Has Tiwa Savage really done enough to support young female artists, or is she unfairly targeted by critics?

What do you think🤔

Is Tiwa right to call out the industry’s “darkness”, or is Naijashimadun right to call her out too?
