Afrobeats rising star Fave has stirred conversations online after firing back at a critique from music business strategist Nelson Ufene, author of Artist Development – Moving from Good to Valuable.

The drama began after Fave shared a video of herself freestyling while sitting down. Nelson reposted the clip with a critique, claiming her vocal delivery suffered because she was sitting.

“Vocal delivery could have been better if she were standing. Because of the sitting position, she’s forced to sing through her nose, reducing the quality of the delivery,” he wrote.

Fave wasted no time clapping back, insisting that sitting wasn’t the issue.

“Lol don’t you just hate when people that aren’t experts on sth claim to be experts? No, you don’t have to stand to give an amazing vocal performance. Yes, my vocal delivery was awful but only because I was smoking at the time and it began damaging my vocal chords,” she fired.

But Nelson wasn’t backing down. He doubled down on his perspective, insisting his point was more about teaching emerging artists.

“That vocal performance was poor and it wasn’t because you smoked. Stop sitting down to record. Yes, you’ve a naturally good voice, but you ruin your delivery by sitting,” he countered.

The back-and-forth has since gone viral, with fans and industry insiders weighing in. While some defended Fave’s honesty about her smoking habit, others agreed with Nelson’s technical advice, stressing that body posture can affect vocal strength and resonance.

The exchange has sparked a wider debate: Does standing really matter when recording music, or should raw talent shine regardless of position?
