Colleagues plan artiste night, fidau for Murphy Afolabi

On Sunday, May 21, 2023, colleagues of the late actor Murphy Afolabi will stage an artiste night programme for the deceased at the LTV Blue Roof Arena in Ikeja, Lagos. On Monday, May 22, there will be fidau prayers at the same location.

The 49-year-old actor died on Sunday, May 14, 2023, after falling in his bathroom at his Ikorodu, Lagos, home.

On Monday, May 15, the actor from Osogbo, Osun State, was buried in Ikorodu.

Speaking to journalists at the burial, the President of the Theatre Arts and Movies Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Bolaji Amusan, aka Mr Latin, had said, “Anybody can die. Murphy was not sick, as far as we know. As you must have heard, he went to have his bath, slipped and died. The news of his death came as a rude shock to us, and is a great loss to the industry.”
