Korra Obidi stirs Ghana fufu debate
Korra Obidi, a popular Nigerian singer and dancer, might have stirred a debate online as she stated that she prefers Ghana fufu because it doesn’t stink.
The mother of two who travelled to the West African country stated this in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
She shared a video of herself in a restaurant eating the Ghanaian delicacy with light soup.
In the video, Korra is seen using a straw to sip the stew while dancing.
Captioning her post, she wrote “Normally Ghana fufu no dey stink. This light soup na stream. E need straw.”
While some social media users thought the statement was an insult to Ghanaians, others said she was just being playful.
A user identified as Willy commented “Inappropriate comment to make about another country’s food. Could have kept that to yourself.”
Chrysa Diriks wrote, “People, she’s only catching cruise so be calming down, the first part of the caption is actually a compliment saying she prefers Ghana fufu to Nigerian fufu because it doesn’t stink, for the soup, I’m sure she would have said the same even if it was a Nigerian soup.”
Korra had a meet-and-greet session with her Ghanaian fans in Accra on Tuesday, December 27.
She shared a video from her meeting on Instagram with the caption “I enjoyed meeting my lovers at the meet and greet houses in Accra by Aisha Modi and Sanni Adams. I had an amazing time and met a lot of other amazing creatives. Big Korra Out!”
It was her second trip to Ghana in one week.
The US-based dancer celebrated Christmas with her family in Nigeria.
She is visiting for the holidays after completing her divorce from American Justin Dean, the father of the two children.
