The public feud involving gospel singer Neon Adejo, photographer David Martins and Martins’ estranged wife Alicia Daniella took another sharp turn on Wednesday after fresh chat screenshots and competing statements flooded social media.
David Martins released additional WhatsApp exchanges he says took place between Neon and Alicia. In one widely shared snippet, Neon asked, “Are you missing me? You didn’t show me your nails,” while Alicia replied that he should be on the phone praying with his wife. Earlier leaked messages also showed Neon asking for a selfie and telling Alicia his wife would not see the chats.
Martins used his Instagram story to reject Neon’s version of events.
“Neon DID NOT reach out to me after Alicia allegedly spoke with him. Even from the chats that Neon has posted himself, it shows that Neon reached out to me on 16 June 2026 after he had been flirting with Alicia for a while,” he wrote.
He added that the screenshots were sent by Alicia herself and accused Neon of editing timestamps in a video posted that day.
“Does your WhatsApp messenger have a time travel feature?” Martins asked.
Neon has maintained that his involvement began when Alicia approached him at a conference earlier this year, told him she had suffered mental, financial, verbal and emotional abuse for about three years, and showed him graphic pictures he described as worse than those she later shared publicly. He said she was a nursing mother staying with a neighbour and struggling to care for her child. He sent money for the child’s needs and later helped with hospital bills, food, a hair appointment and accommodation. He has denied any romantic interest and said his wife was aware of the assistance.
Neon’s wife, Lade, then published a lengthy statement defending her husband and shifting the spotlight back onto the original marriage. She described the circulating story as a carefully constructed narrative that omits context.
“For the avoidance of doubt, if my husband chooses to spend money assisting someone he believes is genuinely in need, best believe he’s spent much more for me, our son and the rest of his family. We lack nothing,” she wrote.
She posed direct questions she said still needed answers at David:
“Did you abuse your wife? Did you leave your wife and family without adequate shelter in a foreign country? Did you provide for their needs, or did you abandon them to fend for themselves?”
Lade argued that helping a family in distress should not automatically be read as an attack or as proof of ulterior motives.
“Not every act of kindness is transactional,” she said, adding that character is established by conduct, not accusations.
The clash sits inside a larger marital breakdown. Alicia has accused David of domestic abuse. David has denied that characterisation, alleged misconduct on her part, and used the leaked conversations to argue that Neon crossed a line while presenting himself as a helper. Both sides have accused the other of doctoring or selectively presenting chats. Those claims remain unverified beyond the screenshots and videos each party has chosen to release.
The episode has split online opinion between those who see Neon’s actions as compassionate intervention and those who view the tone of the messages as inappropriate for a married gospel artist. For now, the public record consists of competing receipts, competing narratives and two families whose private crisis has become fully public.
