Kizz Daniel has told fans the quiet stretch in his year was not album work. It was grief. The Afrobeats star said he stepped back after losing his mother earlier in 2026, then apologised for arriving late to the year his supporters expected from him.
The explanation came on Friday in a reply on X. A fan, @VicroyDominion1, assumed studio pressure had pulled him off the map and wrote, “I guess album really made you busy you had to pause for a while.” Kizz Daniel shut that guess down at once.
“I paused for my Mom not an album … Lost her this year , but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family … sorry I came late this year.”
The post changed the mood around his absence. Fans who had been waiting for new music shifted to condolences. One wrote that the loss must have been tough and asked that her soul rest in peace. Another admitted he had missed the singer’s sound and told him to stay strong.
For months, that silence had been read as strategy. Kizz Daniel, born Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe and also called Vado D’Great, is the voice behind hits such as “Woju” and “Buga.” When he went quiet in the early part of 2026, many Vaddicts figured a new project was the reason. He has now said the reason was loss. He still has a family to hold, and he said he has to keep moving for them.
Loss is not new in his public story. He lost his father in 2015 and one of his triplets, Jamal, in 2021. In 2024 his wife lost her mother to breast cancer, a grief that later fed the tribute song “Al-Jannah.”
