Forty days after Yoruba screen giant Taiwo Hassan left the stage, his daughter has asked the people who loved him to gather again. Kira Taiwo announced a 40-day prayer for her father, popularly known as Ogogo, inviting family, friends and well-wishers back to Ilaro-Yewa, the Ogun State town that buried him.
The invitation went up on Instagram on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, with his portrait and a simple line:
“You are invited to the 40 days prayer for Alh. Al-Hassan Babatunde Taiwo ‘Ogogo.’”
The gathering is set for Friday, October 2, 2026, at 12 noon at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State. That is the same town, and the same pavilion ground, where the actor was laid to rest. The date marks 40 days since his passing and follows Islamic tradition.
Ogogo died on August 23 at 66 and was buried the next day, August 24. His career in Yoruba cinema spanned more than four decades. The prayer is meant to bring relatives, colleagues and admirers back together in his honour.
The post still landed like a shock. Fans wrote that 40 days felt like yesterday.
“It has already been 40days? I remember him everyday. Rest on sir,” one follower said.
Another wrote:
“So it’s up to 40 days already…. Keep resting in power Legend.”
