Singer Johnny Drille has opened up about how signing to Mavin Records completely changed his personal life, crediting Don Jazzy and the label for introducing him to the woman who became his wife.
In a recent appearance on the His Right Hand podcast, the Mavin star shared the surprising story behind his low-key romance.
“I met my wife at Mavins. I probably still would’ve been single if I hadn’t met her,” he said.
Johnny explained that the relationship began in late 2018 while both worked within the same label. His wife, Rima Tahini, is an A&R executive at Mavin Records.
“I think about it now and how much work we had to put into keeping it under wraps for so long. We started dating in November/December 2018, and the rest of the world got to know in July 2023. And that’s probably five years after, and by then, we had already gotten married,” he revealed.
Keeping the romance private for nearly five years required serious effort, especially in an industry where personal lives often become public.
“It wasn’t easy keeping it under wraps, but I am grateful I met my wife at Mavins,” Johnny added.
The couple’s secret marriage only became public knowledge in July 2023 when Don Jazzy himself shared the news. By then, they had already been legally married for some time. They later welcomed their first child, a daughter, in December 2023.
Johnny’s revelation has sparked warm reactions from fans who now understand the real-life inspiration behind many of his heartfelt love songs.
