A former colleague of Lola Okoye has reignited the long-running rivalry between the Okoye twins by declaring that Peter Okoye is the more talented half of P-Square and the true force behind the group’s iconic brand.
Identified only as CDO, the man who once worked with Lola at British American Tobacco made the bold statement in a recent interview that has dominated entertainment conversations.
“Peter has more talent than Paul. The only thing is that Paul’s talent is the singing talent. I’ve been in showbiz. I’m still in showbiz. There’s nothing like a man who’s got the showmanship, the stage presence. Peter has it all. Stage, ideas, execution, and branding. The P-Square brand is Peter,” he said.
CDO argued that the duo’s elaborate performances, sharp choreography and overall image, not just vocal ability, made them stand out.
“That whole jacket, decked up dancing, is that not what made P-Square? P-Square won’t sing better than Styl-Plus,” he added.
He credited Peter with organising daily rehearsals that lasted three to six hours and shaping the group’s stage style while they lived in Molade, Lagos.
He further claimed that after the brothers split, Peter proved more commercially successful as a solo artist.
“When they broke up was Peter not more successful? Peter was more successful. Go and check records. Peter made more money than Paul as an individual,” CDO stated.
During the interview, CDO also warned that Peter, Paul and their elder brother Jude Okoye would one day regret their current actions. He strongly defended Lola, saying she single-handedly gave P-Square the platform and opportunities that helped them rise. He described Peter as “the most humane person in that family” and insisted the marriage had already proven itself despite initial family resistance over the age difference.
The Okoye family feud has played out publicly for years, involving management disputes, accusations and shifting alliances after P-Square’s multiple break-ups and brief reunions. Fans remain sharply divided, with some agreeing that Peter’s showmanship defined the group while others insist Paul’s voice was the irreplaceable core.
CDO’s latest claims have poured fresh fuel on the fire, forcing many to revisit old debates about who truly carried the P-Square brand.
