Nigerian comedian, actor, content creator and master of ceremonies Chimaraph has opened up about the realities of juggling several entertainment roles while staying true to what he does best.
Speaking on the Conversations With Kenni podcast hosted by Kehinde Ajose, the multi-talented star explained how he, like many people in the industry, simply stumbled into opportunities before gradually discovering their true path.
“In this part of the world, we stumble into things a lot, but as we grow, we discover the paths we want to focus on. You know when you hear a motivational speech that tells you to ‘just start!’ and you just do. It’s good to just start, you know? In the journey of starting, you’ll be able to find yourself,” he said.
When asked whether emceeing was something he fell into as a comedian, Chimaraph made it clear that hosting has always been natural to him.
“Well, being a master of ceremonies, to me, is my forte. I’ve been an MC for as long as I can remember. I think my first even was just after I finished secondary school. I just knew I could talk so it wasn’t a big deal for me. It just comes naturally. And I was also the guy who makes people laugh.”
He however noted that stand up comedy was an easy way into the job at the time he started:
“The period when I started out, being a stand up comedian was the formal and easiest way to get into the industry.”
He now prefers a broader introduction that reflects his growth.
“I like to introduce myself now as an entertainment entrepreneur because beyond being an MC, I do a lot of production, acting, and co, but master of ceremonies is my core. If you wake me up from my sleep and hand me a microphone, I’ll still deliver.”
His comments highlight the flexible nature of Nigeria’s entertainment space, where many talents wear multiple hats out of necessity and passion. While he continues to act, create content and influence on social media, Chimaraph remains firmly rooted in the craft that comes most naturally to him.
