Popular comedian, musician and content creator Nasboi has broken his silence after content creator Angel Babaorobo, also known as Biggy or Babaorobo, publicly accused him of underpayment and belittling remarks.
In a firm statement shared on X on Sunday, Nasboi addressed the controversy head-on, describing himself as an open book known for kindness over the years. He insisted the complaints do not reflect his overall track record.
“If you’ve known me for the last six years, you know I’m an open book. I’ve been kind not just to those close to me, but often to strangers as well. So, if you’re going to judge me based on one person’s complaint, despite over 500 people I’ve worked with, then there’s little I can do.”
Nasboi stated that he worked with the man only about five times and that he was properly taken care of on each occasion. He specifically recalled recommending him for a job with AY that paid ₦200,000 for one night. According to Nasboi, the requests continued beyond that.
“I even gave him a job with AY, paid at 200k in one night. but he still kept calling me to provide a hotel. and even asked me to get my followers to help him buy a car because he was coming from far. I will not face the consequences of his entitlement. If you choose to judge me by that, then there’s absolutely nothing I can do.”
The response came after Babaorobo shared an emotional video detailing his side of the story. He claimed he had worked with Nasboi since 2022, travelling long distances from areas like Iju Ishaga, Bariga and later Ikorodu to Lekki for shoots, sometimes receiving only ₦10,000. He said Nasboi recommended him for the AY stage play valued at ₦200,000, but the rehearsals required repeated trips to Eko Hotel. When he requested transport and accommodation support as a family man of four, the situation escalated.
Leaked voice notes allegedly from Nasboi circulated online, in which he questioned the request and made comments about value and entitlement. In one, he reportedly said the ₦200,000 should cover transport home. In another, he told him not to act entitled and described him as upcoming with a character problem. Babaorobo reacted emotionally in his video, repeatedly asking if he truly had no value.
Nasboi’s public reply has divided opinions online. Some supporters praise him for refusing to enable what he sees as excessive demands, while others argue that asking for transport for a distant job is reasonable and that the “no value” remarks crossed a line.
The exchange has sparked wider conversations about payment standards, respect, and entitlement within Nigeria’s content creation circles.
