Nollywood actress Queen Temitope Oluwa has opened up about intense marriage pressure, false claims about her past, and a turbulent path into marriage, revealing she was still a virgin when she got engaged.
Appearing on the Talk to B podcast, the actress dismissed long-standing rumours of a wild pre-marital lifestyle. She directly blamed her late brother-in-law for spreading damaging stories to her husband.
“When I got engaged, I was a virgin. Apparently, his brother told him that I fixed being a Lagos Island babe. That’s a lie. Now, the brother is late. I would have asked him where I can fix it because I really need to fix it now. He said I couldn’t be a virgin.”
Queen Oluwa shared a particularly unsettling encounter with the same brother-in-law. He invited her to his home, where she met another woman who looked strikingly like her. They took pictures together, and she assumed the woman was family.
“There was a time that the brother called me to come and see him, and I went there. There was this other lady; she actually looked like me. We both took pictures with him. I thought she was family,” she recalled.
“We took the pictures, and I left, only for him to send the pictures to my husband, asking, ‘What does Queen have that she doesn’t have?’”
The actress admitted marriage was never her personal dream. Pressure from her parents played a major role. Her husband, whom the family knew well and who lives in the United States, entered the picture when she was just 22 or 23 years old.
“You know, I was never married, and I wasn’t ready to go. This was more of my parents’ thing. He is someone they know very well, and he also lives in the US,” she explained.
“I was like 22 or 23 during this incident. I would call him and cry because that wasn’t my plan or dream. I didn’t want to be married then.”
Despite eventually marrying, Queen Oluwa made it clear she will not tolerate neglect.
“But I’m married now, and I believe once I’m married, that’s it. You cannot just leave me at home and not show love for days, then come back. I will leave. So, I left.”
Her candid revelations highlight the emotional weight of family interference, societal expectations, and the personal battles many young women face when navigating love and marriage in the public eye.
