Nollywood actress Blessing Obasi Nze has shared a deeply emotional parenting story, revealing she broke down in tears after smacking her young son during a moment of frustration and fear.
In a heartfelt interview with Ife Agoro, the wife of actor Stan Nze recounted the incident that left her feeling like a “bad mother.” Her son became extremely angry after she briefly left him with the nanny to take a shower.
“I cried the day I smacked my son because he was hitting his head against the wall. He was angry because I left him with the nanny while I went to shower. At some point, he started hitting his head against the floor. Sometimes, gentle parenting doesn’t work,” Blessing Obasi said.
After disciplining him, the mother of one quickly shifted to positive reinforcement.
“After I rebuked him, I spoke to him positively.”
The actress stressed that while she believes in gentle parenting, there are moments when stronger intervention becomes necessary to protect a child from harming themselves. Her honest confession has touched many parents who relate to the guilt that often follows disciplinary actions.
Blessing and Stan Nze welcomed their son Jay in 2023 after years of waiting, turning the couple’s journey into a powerful testimony of faith and resilience. The actress has frequently described their son as a miracle and “crown of her youth.”
