Nollywood actress Bimpe Akintunde has shared deeply emotional details of her troubled second pregnancy, revealing how marital problems began when she was barely three months along, leaving her in tears throughout the journey.
In a heartfelt interview with BBC Yoruba, the actress, also known as Wasila Coded, opened up about the challenges that contributed to the breakdown of her marriage.
“I cried when I was carrying my second pregnancy. God gave me my second daughter as a gift because it wasn’t up to three months of being pregnant that I started experiencing issues in my marriage. He was always questioning if I was the first woman to get pregnant,” she disclosed.
Bimpe’s revelation comes after she confirmed her separation earlier this year, having previously entered the marriage as a third wife in 2023. Despite the pain, she expressed gratitude for her children and emphasised personal growth through the experience.
Drawing from her own story, the actress offered candid advice to women considering marriage. She encouraged taking time to truly know a partner’s character:
“If you ever meet someone and he says he wants to marry you quickly, make sure you spend time with him even if it’s just three months to study out his character and behaviour.”
On polygamy, Bimpe stated she sees nothing wrong with being a second, third, or fourth wife but warned against men whose previous wives have all left. She stressed the importance of leaving toxic situations:
“It’s better to leave a marriage with your life intact than for your dead body to be taken out of it.”
The actress, who already had her first child before marrying, affirmed her belief in marriage while remaining optimistic about the future. “I will still marry again,” she declared, adding that she can only marry a man who supports her career as an actress.
Bimpe also urged women to raise sons who respect and treat women well, especially during pregnancy, while encouraging them to work hard, trust God, and take their careers seriously.
