Renowned Nigerian gospel music producer Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as Eezee Tee, has sparked massive debate after boldly exposing what he describes as the hidden dark side of the gospel music industry.
In a strongly worded Instagram post that has gone viral, the music executive and founder of EeZee Conceptz pulled no punches, claiming the industry many perceive as holy is actually riddled with serious issues.
“The Gospel Music Industry is darker than what you think. It is clothed in hypocrisy, lies, denials, pretence, and deep religion, so folks rarely see through it.”
He further alleged that the sector is “more performance-based than spirit-led” and “driven more by emotions than spirituality.” According to him, many gospel artists who publicly criticise the secular music industry are fully aware of these problems.
“I have been here for a while and have been privileged to engage with both industries, and trust me, you have no idea the evil that goes on in the Gospel Industry. Once you stand against evil, you’re hated and become a target. May Jesus help us.”
The producer’s revelation comes less than a year after his highly publicised and messy fallout with former signee, award-winning gospel artist Mercy Chinwo. Their dispute involved allegations of contract issues, bullying, and attempts to take over music catalogues.
Eezee Tee’s statement has divided netizens. While some praised him for speaking out against alleged hypocrisy, others questioned his motives, with some reactions suggesting the outburst relates to his past industry conflicts.
The post has reignited broader conversations about authenticity, spirituality, and business practices within Nigeria’s gospel music scene, an industry long viewed by many as more morally upright than its secular counterpart.
