Nollywood actress Blessing Onwuke has opened up about a painful four-and-half-year relationship she described as a costly mistake, revealing how a divine warning helped her uncover her partner’s hidden truth and find the courage to walk away.
In a candid interview on the Paul And Baaj: In Character podcast, Blessing shared the emotional journey that led her to leave the relationship and move to Lagos in pursuit of her acting dreams. She said:
“I was in a relationship. I spent four and half years of my life in that relationship and I had no business being there. I left the relationship to move to Lagos. I had to run.”
The actress admitted she desperately wanted a genuine love affair but later realised she had settled for something far from it.
“It was a mistake because it wasn’t really a love affair and I wanted a love affair. I thought it was love, but I later realized. I sat down and asked myself questions like, ‘why did I have to spend such a long time?’”
Blessing narrated how God intervened in a dramatic way while she was bathing in their small room and bath apartment.
“I was in the bathroom and as soon as I poured water on me, I heard ‘your boyfriend has a child out of wedlock, ask him.’ I heard it clearly. It couldn’t have been my mind cause I hadn’t heard anything like that before.”
When she confronted him, the boyfriend initially denied having any child, claiming instead that his elder sister did. Blessing pressed further, but he continued to deny it. According to her, the inner voice persisted, warning her that the truth would eventually come out.
She acknowledged having a strong relationship with God, who she believes protected her even when she chose her own path.
Blessing Onwuke’s story has resonated with many fans, especially young women who find themselves in unfulfilling relationships. Her testimony highlights themes of self-discovery, divine guidance, and the courage to leave situations that no longer serve one’s destiny.
