Popular Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has delivered a scathing criticism of the Federal Government, accusing leaders of indifference to the plight of ordinary citizens amid escalating kidnapping, killings, and general insecurity across the country.
Falz made the remarks while addressing protesters during the June 12 demonstration in Lagos, where civil society groups, labour unions, youth organisations, and concerned Nigerians gathered to demand an end to insecurity and economic hardship.
“Apart from the insane corruption and gross mismanagement of our resources, I think everybody can see the worsening insecurity. It’s unbearable now.”
He expressed deep frustration over the government’s perceived failure to protect lives, stressing that no Nigerian life should be considered more important than another.
“They don’t care about us. They don’t care about ordinary people. But it must be known that no Nigerian life is more important than the other. Every single Nigerian life matters. And every single person must be cared for and protected at all costs.”
The activist highlighted recent abductions, including the kidnapping of students and even a relative of a former minister in Oyo State, questioning why such incidents continue despite government assurances.
Falz called for an immediate end to the cycle of kidnappings and killings, lamenting that schools remain open while students are still being snatched away. He urged Nigerians to actively use democratic channels, including casting their votes, to demand better governance and accountability.
The June 12 protest formed part of a nationwide day of action organised by a coalition that includes human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and other activists, focusing on insecurity, rising cost of living, and declining living standards.
Falz’s strong comments have resonated widely online, amplifying growing public anger over the security situation and the feeling that leaders remain disconnected from the daily struggles and fears of ordinary citizens.
