Nollywood actress and media personality Nancy Isime has finally addressed the backlash she faced for not publicly mourning her late colleague and friend, Alexx Ekubo, following his shocking death at age 40.

In a candid interview, Nancy opened up about her close friendship with the deceased actor and their fun moments together, acknowledging that instead of posting a tribute, she put him as her profile picture because of how close they were.

“Alexx was my friend, people knew that. We had so much fun videos together.”

Nancy praised Alexx’s character and legacy, describing him as someone who lived and exited life on his own terms.

“Forty years and he made so much impact. A lot of people live to 100 and still don’t make as much impact as he did. Alexx lived his way and also went out his way and that’s commendable and I’ll forever love him.”

The actress revealed she was driving in traffic when she confirmed the sad news of his death. She highlighted his supportive nature, noting that he was always willing to lend a helping hand even when he disagreed with others.

“He was very supportive to everybody. Even if he didn’t agree, he would always offer a hand of help.”

Addressing speculation that bullying or online pressure contributed to Alexx’s death, Nancy pushed back firmly, refusing to attribute his passing to external words or criticism.

“Alexx had a great mind. He was very strong in his mind so I can’t say he was bullied away. I don’t want to give anybody power to say that their words can kill anybody.”

Her decision not to post a public tribute sparked mixed reactions online, with some accusing her of being cold while others respected her choice to grieve privately. Nancy’s interview now provides insight into her reserved approach during the period of mourning.

Alexx Ekubo’s sudden death sent shockwaves through the Nigerian entertainment industry, with many colleagues paying glowing tributes to the talented actor known for his charm and vibrant personality.
