Popular Nigerian TikTok star Jarvis (Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, also known as Jadrolita) has opened up about why her boyfriend, Habeeb Hamzat (Peller), chose to propose to her on a beach in Accra, Ghana, instead of their home country despite their massive popularity.

The couple’s romantic seaside proposal at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel recently went viral, with fans celebrating the emotional moment.

However, many wondered why the lovebirds skipped Nigeria for the special occasion. Jarvis cleared the air during a recent livestream.

“Peller didn’t engage me in Nigeria because there’re a lot of people in Nigeria with bad intentions to spoil everything for us, or even Agbero that will come and ask us to pay them money. So, we just had to think outside the box for somewhere peaceful and calm.”

The content creator emphasized that the decision was driven by safety concerns and the desire for a disruption-free moment, rather than seeking foreign glamour. She highlighted fears of touts (commonly called Agbero) demanding money or individuals with harmful intentions crashing or spoiling their special day.

Peller’s romantic proposal, complete with a beautiful setup, candles, and sparklers, ended with Jarvis saying “Yes.” He followed it up with a sweet billboard surprise displaying their proposal video.

The revelation has triggered mixed reactions online. While many congratulated the couple and agreed with the security concerns, others dismissed the explanation as an excuse or joked about their future plans.

Fans commented:

“All this doesn’t concern me, when is wedding day,”

“THE AGBERO PART IS TRUE THOUGH,”

and

“THAT’S JUST AN EXCUSE.”
