Nollywood actress and producer Lala Akindoju has passionately spoken out against the rising wave of killings and kidnappings across Nigeria, refusing to normalise the disturbing trend.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the award-winning star expressed deep frustration over the current state of insecurity, where people are now routinely watching innocent citizens being beheaded in live videos. She highlighted how kidnapping has become the order of the day, with children and babies increasingly targeted.

“I refuse to normalise the state of killings and kidnapping in Nigeria.”

She questioned the silence of major religious and labour bodies.

“PFN, CAN, NURTW, agencies in charge of child protection – WHERE IS YOUR VOICE?”

Lala criticised the weak response from citizens and leaders alike.

“The office of the Nigerian citizen is very weak – all I see are campaigns for another term and primary elections, when one of the core responsibilities of any government is to provide security for its citizens.”

She further lamented the desensitisation of Nigerians to violence.

“We are now watching innocent people get beheaded on live videos, and we are all acting like everything is okay!!! If that man were your father, husband, or brother, would you still carry on?”

The actress called on all Nigerians to hold leaders accountable.

“If ALL NIGERIANS hold our leaders accountable, perhaps they will be forced to try or pretend to care.”

Lala Akindoju’s strong message joins similar outcries from other celebrities like Opeyemi Aiyeola, Ruth Kadiri, and Yvonne Jegede, who receimntly reacted to the brutal murder of a teacher and the abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State.
