The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has announced detailed funeral arrangements, with the final rites and burial scheduled to hold on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Arochukwu, Abia State.

The actor, who passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 after battling advanced metastatic kidney cancer, will be laid to rest in his hometown. The family released an official obituary on his Instagram page, urging continued prayers for the deceased, his wife, and the entire family.

According to the funeral programme, a Service of Songs will take place on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Center, Lekki, Lagos, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m and guests are expected to wear white.

The wake-keep is set for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu, Abia State. The funeral service and interment will follow the next day, Thursday, June 18, 2026. The service will be held at Mary Slessor School, while the interment will take place at the family residence. A reception will immediately follow at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, with guests also required to wear white.

Alexx Ekubo, born in Arochukwu, Abia State, rose to fame after finishing as first runner-up at the Mr Nigeria 2010 pageant. He built a successful career in Nollywood, appearing in numerous films before his untimely death.

The announcement has elicited an outpouring of condolences from fans, colleagues, and the entertainment industry, as they prepare to honour the actor’s legacy in his home state.
