Arsenal Football Club has finally reclaimed the Premier League crown after 22 long years, ending their status as perennial ‘bottlers’ and silencing decades of heartbreak under manager Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners were crowned 2025/26 champions on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, after rivals Manchester City could only manage a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth. Arsenal had already secured a vital 1-0 victory over Burnley the previous day, with Kai Havertz scoring the decisive goal.

This victory marks Arsenal’s first Premier League title since the legendary “Invincibles” campaign of 2003/04 under Arsène Wenger. It is also their 14th English league title overall.

The road to glory was filled with painful hurdles. After finishing as runners-up for three consecutive seasons, many labelled the team “bottlers” who could not handle pressure in the final stretch. In previous campaigns, Arsenal built strong leads only to see Manchester City overtake them late in the season.

This season, Arteta’s men showed remarkable resilience. They spent much of the campaign at the top of the table, boasting the league’s stingiest defence and a well-balanced attack featuring stars like Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and new signing Viktor Gyokeres. Key contributions also came from players such as Eberechi Eze, Leandro Trossard, and Martin Ødegaard.

Mikel Arteta’s transformation of the club has been remarkable. When he took over in 2019, Arsenal were struggling. He rebuilt the squad, removed divisive elements, and instilled a winning mentality inspired by his time under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Arteta’s belief never wavered despite criticism. His side overcame early doubts, maintained consistency, and refused to collapse under pressure in the closing weeks.

The title triumph represents a massive redemption arc for Arsenal fans who endured years of near-misses and disappointment. Celebrations erupted across North London and among supporters worldwide as the 22-year wait finally ended.
