Controversial social media influencer and self-proclaimed relationship therapist Blessing CEO has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged ₦36 million fraud case. The development has sent shockwaves through social media, with many recalling her past controversial claims and public persona.
The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the EFCC on Friday, May 15, 2026, brought Blessing CEO before Justice D.I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos. Her real name is Okoro Blessing Nkiruka. She faces a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and alleged stealing.
During the court proceedings, her lawyer, P.I. Nwafor, informed the court that the defendant had already refunded ₦24 million to the petitioner.
“We have an application to make. The defendant approached the nominal complainant and refunded N24 million out of the N36 million.”
He pleaded for a short adjournment to facilitate discussions on the outstanding balance, noting that the complainant was willing to help withdraw the case if full payment is made.
The prosecution counsel, S.I. Suleiman, however, insisted that the EFCC was not part of any settlement.
“The complainant here is the Federal Government of Nigeria, and we are here for the arraignment. We urge that the defendant take her plea.”
Justice Dipeolu ruled that settlement talks could continue independently without halting proceedings, and ordered the defendant to take her plea.
Blessing CEO rose to prominence as a self acclaimed relationship therapist dishing out advice on social media, often attracting both praise and heavy criticism for her takes on love, marriage, and personal issues. Her legal troubles now add another layer to her already polarising public image, with many netizens drawing connections to her previous claims, including a widely discussed cancer diagnosis.
