Nollywood star Uzor Arukwe, popularly known as Odogwu, has sparked laughter and heartfelt prayers across social media with his honest reaction to a strong scene in the recently released movie Behind The Scenes. The actor admitted that every time he watches the moment where his on-screen character Victor’s grave is visited, the typical Nigerian in him takes over and he instinctively says a quick prayer.
In the post, Arukwe described the scene featuring actress Scarlet Gomez paying respects at the graveside. His own photograph appears on the tombstone, triggering an immediate cultural reflex many Nigerians understand too well.
In his post, he wrote:
“Anytime I come across that scene in Behind The Scenes where @thescarletgomez went to the graveyard to see Victor’s grave & I see my picture on the grave.. The Naija man in me whispers God forbid ooo and say a serious prayer.”
Scarlet Gomez, who played a key role in the emotional sequence, responded playfully in the comments.
“Not your portion o ijn… but why you dey fear?”
The light-hearted post has resonated with fans, many of whom admitted they had the same reaction while watching the film. Several followers shared similar stories of saying silent prayers or skipping death-related scenes in movies out of superstition.
One viewer noted,
“It’s necessary, my brother. Me sef follow you do God forbid! You will not die young in Jesus name.”
The actor’s character Victor meets a tragic end in Behind The Scenes, a storyline that has left audiences emotional and reflective. Arukwe’s post humanises the craft of acting, showing that even seasoned professionals are not immune to the cultural beliefs that shape everyday Nigerian life.
