Veteran Yoruba actor Olanrewaju James Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, just stirred fresh drama with some emotional revelations about his past with Iyabo Ojo. He opened up during a recent episode of Biola Adebayo’s Talk To B podcast, talking about how he once stood firmly in her corner even when others pushed him to turn against her.
This comes after the massive 2021 scandal where Baba Ijesha was arrested following allegations that he sexually assaulted a minor. Iyabo Ojo was heavily involved, helping set up the sting operation that led to his arrest, complete with CCTV footage. He was convicted in July 2022 on charges of indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault, served his time, and was released from prison late 2025. Early this month he dropped the song “Eniwaye Daran,” where he insists the whole thing was a setup out of envy and betrayal.
But in the podcast, Baba Ijesha sounded genuinely hurt as he reflected on their history.
“What pains me the most about Iyabo Ojo is that she has put her brother and Priscillia in my care before when they were younger.”
He didn’t stop there. Baba Ijesha claimed someone approached him wanting him to “do something about her,” and how he refused.
“When someone asked me to do something about her, I said she’s my product so I can’t ruin her.”
Iyabo Ojo hasn’t dropped any direct response to these specific claims yet. She’s always been vocal about the original case, saying she stepped up because of her own past experiences with abuse and because she believed the young girl needed justice. The two have clashed publicly before, especially when Iyabo faced heat from some colleagues who felt the trap was unfair.
Right now the Nollywood streets are buzzing again. Some fans are calling it a heartfelt look at old mentorship gone sour, while others are questioning why he’s bringing this up now. Either way, it’s another layer on top of the messy history that’s kept Baba Ijesha and Iyabo Ojo in the headlines for years.
