This Is My Last Big Party Till 60 – Bisola Aiyeola Says

Nollywood actress and popular media personality Bisola Aiyeola has spoken openly about the intense emotions she experienced when she discovered she was pregnant outside of marriage, describing a mix of shock, shame, and worry about repeating her own mother’s path as a single parent.

At 40 years old, Bisola reflected on the moment she learned of the pregnancy while she was engaged at the time. She had hoped to walk down the aisle before starting a family, making the situation particularly difficult to accept.

“I was scared and ashamed of being pregnant and having a baby out of wedlock. I thought I was going to get married because I was engaged at that time, but we never got married. So it was so shameful because my mum was a single mum and I am about to become one. I feared my child might also have the same fate.”

The actress, known for her vibrant roles on screen and her time as a Big Brother Naija housemate, also touched on the added pressure caused by her family’s financial situation during that period. Breastfeeding her newborn daughter became especially challenging amid economic struggles, adding another layer of difficulty to an already emotional experience.

Despite the initial pain and fear, Bisola eventually reached a place of acceptance and deep love for her child. She emphasised that her daughter has become a source of immense joy and pride, regardless of the circumstances surrounding her arrival.

Bisola’s story resonates widely in Nigeria, where conversations around single motherhood, societal expectations, and family dynamics often carry significant weight. By sharing her story, she offers both vulnerability and strength, reminding many that life’s unexpected turns can lead to beautiful outcomes when embraced with resilience and faith.
