Released in 2022, the song resonated globally with its mixture of Afro-pop, heartfelt lyrics and Simi’s soulful delivery.
The music video featured Simi’s baby bump, highlighting her anticipation and love for her unborn child.
The track also inspired a viral social media trend known as the “Duduke Challenge,” where fans created their own interpretations of the song.
While some fans have affectionately begun calling Simi’s daughter, Adejare, “Duduke,” Simi clarified in a recent interview that the moniker was simply a creative onomatopoeia she used in the song to express her heart beating. She said she prefers her daughter to be addressed by her actual name.
