Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has made it clear that a public apology from her ex, Opeyemi Falegan, does not mean they are getting back together.

The clarification came on Sunday, November 8, 2026, hours after the pair appeared together on a TikTok Live the previous day. During that session, Falegan, an Ekiti politician and philanthropist, apologised for the bitter fallout that played out publicly in 2022.

On the Live, Nkechi insisted there could be no moving forward without accountability. She pointed to comments he made years earlier that were still being used against her online.

“I told you something in February — that if you must, you see because of what you did five years ago, some irrelevant nitwits, they used to use it to insult me yesterday. That is to tell you the internet never forgets. There’s no letting go without an apology,” she said.

Falegan acknowledged he had changed.

“A gentleman wouldn’t extend the words of the lady. And another thing you need to understand is this: who I was yesterday is not who I am today,” he told her.

He also reflected on why the relationship could not last.

“Perfect picture, we were very very good together. Lovable, lovely couple, power couple, always everywhere together… But if we had continued that way, there’s no way we would have had a fulfilled life being together.”

He then offered the apology she demanded:

“From the bottom of my heart to the depth of my soul, do not be angry, Nkechi. That is gone. See that you have grown and more mature.”

Their 2022 split had been messy, with both sides trading accusations on social media after they had presented themselves as a couple. The recent Live drew mixed reactions, with some fans questioning why Nkechi engaged with him at all and others suggesting the conversation looked like unfinished business.

On Sunday she closed that speculation. In an Instagram post she wrote:

“Making peace with someone from my past does not mean I want that person back in my present. Forgiveness is not a relationship announcement. Being cordial does not mean rekindling old flames. And letting go of bitterness does not mean reopening doors that life has already taught me to close.”

She added:

“So please, let’s not mistake maturity for romance or peace for a reunion. No bad blood, no bitterness, no going backwards. Just two adults choosing peace after years of unnecessary negativity.”

She finished with:

“Some people belong in your memories, not your future. And that’s perfectly okay.”
