Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has launched a fiery protest at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Abuja, accusing the electoral body of colluding with Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) officials to conduct a shady primary election behind his back.
The actor, who contested for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency ticket under the NDC ahead of the 2027 polls, led a group of supporters to INEC’s Area 10 office where they confronted officials over alleged irregularities.
In a passionate outburst captured on video, Emeka Ike did not mince words as he slammed the process.
“You’ve failed to do the right thing and have now tried to do the election behind us. We didn’t have the address while the election was going on. I’m saying to INEC, I don’t do social media activism. INEC will not escape this. We’re doing election and you come to hide and do the election here.”
Activist Trageel, who was with him, reinforced the allegations from the background saying:
“This is where we are… We just came to INEC at Area 10 and we saw a vehicle carrying some NDC officials in the corner. INEC, we have never trusted you and these people were found at your premises. What were NDC officials doing at your premises? I have evidence of those people, sue me to court.”
The dramatic confrontation stems from disputes over the conduct of the NDC primaries, with Emeka Ike and his team claiming they were sidelined and that the process lacked transparency. INEC officials reportedly attempted to clarify the situation, stating the NDC members were at the office for Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and not for improper reasons.
This latest development marks a major escalation in the actor’s political ambition. Emeka Ike had earlier declared his intention to run for the House of Representatives in Abuja under the NDC platform after a previous attempt in Imo State in 2018.
