Nigerian disc jockey DJ Tunez has broken his silence on the physical altercation with Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy, delivering a series of pointed accusations that have dominated conversations across social media. The clash reportedly occurred on Monday night at Obi’s House, a popular weekly Afrobeats event in Lagos hosted by nightlife entrepreneur Obi Cubana.
In a direct address posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account later in the night of Tuesday, DJ Tunez, who serves as Wizkid’s official DJ, described the incident as an unprovoked attack. He spared no details in calling out what he perceived as unfair tactics.
“THIS NIGGA BURNA BOY! ALL SIGNS OF WEAKNESS!”
he wrote in one post, setting the tone for his account.
He followed up with a more detailed breakdown of the sequence of events, accusing the Grammy-winning artist of striking him from behind.
“FIRST OFF ….. YOU HIT ME IN THE BACK OF MY HEAD WITHOUT ME LOOKING! THATS SOME SUCKA SHIT MY BOY!”
The DJ went further in another tweet, claiming he held his own despite being outnumbered.
“1 VS 10 AND I STOOD MY GROUND. THAT’S WHY YOU COLLECTED AS WELL, WHEN I DEFENDED MYSELF.”
The posts quickly went viral, sparking intense debate among fans of both artists. Videos circulating online appear to show the moment DJ Tunez ended up on the ground during the confrontation, though full context remains limited to contradicting eyewitness accounts and the participants’ own statements.
Burna Boy has not issued a direct response to the claims. However, he was later seen on Snapchat vibing to a track while playfully altering the lyrics of “Money Constant,” replacing the line “Ogbafia dey my side” with “Ogbafia Dey For Ground.” The subtle jab, widely interpreted as a reference to DJ Tunez being floored, added fuel to the already heated conversation.
The two entertainers share a long history in the Nigerian music scene but have never been known for close collaboration. DJ Tunez has built his reputation primarily through his work with Wizkid, helping shape some of the biggest Afrobeats anthems of the past decade. Burna Boy, on the other hand, has maintained an independent path that has earned him global acclaim and multiple Grammy nominations.
This latest incident highlights the simmering tensions that sometimes surface within the tightly knit yet competitive Afrobeats community. While physical altercations between high-profile figures are rare, the event has drawn reactions from across the industry, with many fans calling for peace while others have taken sides based on their loyalties.
The Nigerian DJ Association is said to have temporarily suspended Burna Boy’s tracks from playlists pending investigation, according to reports from entertainment outlets.
For now, the public remains captivated by the raw exchange, which has turned a private disagreement into one of the most talked-about moments in Nigerian entertainment this year.
