Nollywood actor and producer Yomi Fabiyi has made a surprising revelation about his once-close relationship with colleague Funke Akindele. In a video currently making rounds online, Fabiyi stated that the celebrated actress and filmmaker ceased all communication with him immediately after he informed her that he had finished building his house. He insisted he had never offended her and described her as a longtime friend.

Fabiyi did not hold back in his assessment of the industry.

“Our industry is very terrible. Those whom you think are good people aren’t.”

He went on to recount the specific moment that changed their dynamic:

“Funke Akindele was my friend from way back. The day I told her that I had completed my house was the last day she ever talked to me, and I didn’t offend her.”

The actor’s house completion was a major milestone for him in 2024 when he dedicated the property to his mother in a well-publicised ceremony held in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The housewarming event was attended by several industry colleagues.

Fabiyi has repeatedly spoken about what he describes as “unjust sufferings” in the industry. He has alleged that some people he once helped have tried to pull him down, blackmail him and cause him harm, even as he strives to remain upright and supportive of others.

Shortly after the accusations spread, Funke Akindele shared what many fans believe to be an indirect response on her Instagram story, writing

“I laugh in Swahili. You reap what you sow”

Though it is unclear whether the cryptic post is directed at Yomi Fabiyi’s claims, fans are divided, with many interpreting it as a subtle clap back while others speculate it might be something else entirely.
