Veteran Nollywood actress Fathia Balogun has firmly shut down rumours of a fallout between her and filmmaker Funke Akindele, calling out bloggers she accused of deliberately stirring drama for attention.
Speaking during an Instagram Live session, Fathia addressed a viral screenshot shared by a blogger, which allegedly suggested bad blood between the two actresses following Funke Akindele’s birthday wishes to her.
According to Fathia, there was never an issue in the first place.
“Everyone is peaceful, no fight, nothing. But you will create a fight between one person and the other,” she said during the live session.
The actress explained that Funke Akindele had warmly celebrated her on her birthday, and she simply replied with a respectful Yoruba response.
“She greeted me on my birthday and I replied, ‘Thank you iya ibeji,’ with love emojis,” Fathia stated.
However, she expressed displeasure that a blogger took a screenshot of her response and twisted it into a narrative of alleged tension, claiming it was a sign of bad blood between both women.
Fathia accused the blogger of chasing relevance and online traffic. Visibly upset, the actress questioned why people were so invested in creating unnecessary controversy.
“What’s the problem? Can’t you leave us alone?” she asked.
The actress also took a swipe at gossip platforms she claimed thrive on chaos, stressing that there is no feud whatsoever between her and Funke Akindele.
The incident has since sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians criticizing bloggers for spreading rumours and fueling hate, which several fans believe has caused more harm than good within the entertainment industry.
