Controversial rapper Naira Marley has stirred fresh debate online after claiming that only a few Nigerian artists are not involved in cult groups.
The Marlian Music boss, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, shared his thoughts on the alleged rise of cultism in the music industry in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) page.
Expressing concern about the trend, Naira Marley suggested that cult affiliation has become widespread among entertainers.
“We no reach 5 weh never join cult for this [music] industry. Person weh put u for cult self dey carry police escort up and down,” he wrote.
The statement, written in pidgin English, implies that fewer than five artists in the industry have not joined cult groups. He also appeared to mock the idea of joining cults for protection, pointing out the irony that some supposed cult influencers still rely on police escorts for security.
His post quickly gained attention, with fans and fellow entertainers reacting in the comment section.
Singer Zinoleesky responded briefly with humor, “Omo😂😂” Other users questioned whether the claim was serious. One fan, Tygan Sam, asked, “You mean am?”

Another user, Eyitayo, jokingly challenged him, “Abeg Naira, drop the names of the remaining 4 clean ones make we judge for ourselves! Or na you, Zino, and 3 ghosts? Industry go scatter today! Who else dey the list? Tag them!”
Some comments also referenced street culture, while others treated the post as entertainment rather than a literal accusation.
Despite the bold statement, Naira Marley has previously denied being a cultist. In earlier interviews and online posts, he claimed he once faced threats from cult groups for refusing to join them.
His latest comment has not been backed by evidence, and no specific names were mentioned. As of the time of report, no other major artists have publicly responded to his claims.
The post has, however, reignited conversations about peer pressure, security concerns, and street influence within Nigeria’s entertainment scene.
