Nollywood actress Bakare Zainab has fired back at social media users dragging her over her emotional display at the Service of Songs for late actress Allwell Ademola.
Entertainment Reporter recalls that the Service of Songs was held on Thursday, drawing several Yoruba Nollywood stars who gathered to honour the late actress. However, one particular clip from the event quickly went viral online.
In the video, Bakare Zainab was seen crying uncontrollably, with colleagues and guests surrounding her in an attempt to console her. While some sympathised with her grief, others took to social media to accuse the actress of “acting for the camera,” claiming she was not close to the deceased.
The reactions did not sit well with Bakare, who took to social media to respond directly to her critics.
Addressing the backlash, the actress warned that she would stay silent for now but would eventually respond after Allwell’s burial. She condemned those using a moment of loss to attack her online.
She wrote:
“Y’all coming for me and tagging me with your full chest, that I was acting for the camera. I will hold on till we bury her before I give you a taste of your medicine. Koni da fun yin!! Y’all are using the death of a loved one to dish out your Oriburuku. We shall see!!!”
Bakare further expressed frustration over the constant online scrutiny, adding:
“Y’all love to test people’s patience. Got home to unnecessary tags!! We shall see.”
Her response has since sparked fresh conversations online, with many defending her right to grieve in her own way, while others insist public figures should expect criticisms.
