Chocolate City star Candy Bleakz has been attacked and robbed in South Africa, leaving her injured and visibly shaken in a series of disturbing videos shared online.
The 26-year-old rapper took to social media on Thursday to reveal she was assaulted outside her apartment while taking a cup of coffee. In one of the clips, Candy was seen bleeding from the mouth. With pain and frustration in her voice, she cried out:
“Officer, why did you let them rob me like this? Why? You were there. You let them go.β
She later posted another video on Snapchat, looking distressed as she nursed her injuries. According to her, a group of unidentified men approached her, attacked her, and fled with her gold jewellery reportedly worth about N10 million.
Candy Bleakz celebrated for her bold style and fast-rising influence in the Nigerian music scene has since received overwhelming support from fans and colleagues, many of whom have expressed anger over the rising wave of attacks on Nigerian entertainers in South Africa.
Her experience adds to growing concerns about artist safety in the country. Just months ago, Mavin Recordsβ DJ Big N survived a similar attack in Johannesburg. He was ambushed by six armed men who demanded his jewellery and shot him in the leg. The DJ later revealed the bullet narrowly missed a major artery.
Candy Bleakz has yet to confirm whether she will remain in South Africa or return home following the attack, but fans continue to pray for her recovery and safety.
