Who Has Bewitched Us? — Spyro Slams Nigerians for Ignoring Kidnapped Girls Amid VDM–Jollof Fight

Nigerian singer Spyro has called out the nation’s increasing distraction and misplaced priorities after the abduction of 25 schoolgirls reportedly took place in a state, yet the viral fistfight between VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof has dominated public discussion.

Taking to his Instagram page, the “Only Fine Girl” crooner expressed deep frustration over how Nigerians quickly amplify trivial dramas while overlooking life-threatening issues affecting innocent children.

Spyro wrote:

“25 young girls have been kidnapped in their school in a state and yet there is more conversation about ‘A FIGHT’ than the abduction of 25 teenagers, wow. Who has bewitched us as a nation…How long before this touches everyone???
THE DAY WE WAKE UP IS THE DAY WE GET FREEDOM.”

He further captioned the post with a plea for collective focus:

“Breaks my heart to see how distracted we are as a people. Can we pls set aside distractions at this moment and speak for JUSTICE #FREEOURGIRLS.”

Spyro’s message comes at a time when social media is overflowing with reactions, memes, and videos of the physical altercation between Mr Jollof and activist VeryDarkMan aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight, a trend overshadowing the unsettling news of the kidnapped girls.

Many Nigerians took to the comment section to echo Spyro’s concern and express worry for the abducted girls:

@lady.blamiviv wrote, “So sad, I wonder what those girls are going through now.” @eke.queen added, “This has truly been a November to remember… a lot has happened.” @mosesponon reflected on the broader issue, saying, “Who’s remembering Leah Sharibu? I still shed a tear and pray for her.” @bigeliofficials commented, “The day we wake up is the day we start better living in this country.”

@kemymusic shared, “What a distracted people.” @its_magekboi lamented the constant cycle of unserious trends, writing, “One day one trend, but the real issue refuses to leave our country. Alas!!!” @boi_wave captured the growing fear among citizens, “We’re sitting on a time bomb in this country.”

Spyro’s post has since sparked renewed calls for attention to the escalating insecurity in schools, with many urging Nigerians to shift focus back to the urgent matter of rescuing the kidnapped children.
