I’d Make 3 Cold Dishes Again 10 Times Over – Producer Asurf Speaks on Passion, Pain and Power Behind the Film

At the 3 Cold Dishes Media Roundtable held on November 4, 2025, at Hard Rock Café, Victoria Island, the atmosphere was thick with passion, honesty, and emotion as Producer Asurf and the creative minds behind what many have called the biggest Pan-African movie of the year shared their journey of grit and resilience.

The session, attended by Entertainment Reporter, offered a rare, intimate look into the heart and hustle behind 3 Cold Dishes; a film that took years to bring to life and left everyone involved deeply transformed.

When asked by a journalist if he would still make the film again knowing all the challenges it came with, the film’s producer and director, Asurf Oluseyi, responded without hesitation:

“I will make 3 Cold Dishes ten times over again — because of the why behind the project and having an amazing, passionate team who treated it as though they were the producers themselves.”

It was a moment that captured not just Asurf’s commitment but the spirit of the entire production; a team bound by purpose, pain, and perseverance.

The Accident Made Me Feel Human

Speaking on the film’s production challenges, Asurf revealed that during one of their inter-country shoots, a road accident almost halted everything.

“The accident made me feel human. I had a brief moment of tears, but I had to summon strength — I needed to be strong for my team”, he said.

He described how that moment tested his leadership and faith, yet also reminded him why filmmaking is a journey of sacrifice.

“This project stretched me, expanded my knowledge, and built my resilience. Today, I can confidently say I’m fit to handle any film project across the continent because this experience shaped me”, Asurf added.

A Million-Dollar Dream

Asurf confirmed that 3 Cold Dishes was executed on a million-dollar budget, describing it as a massive Pan-African collaboration that fused creativity from across Nigeria and beyond.

He couldn’t hide his admiration for the cast and crew.

“I was mesmerized by their sweat, pain, self-motivation, and team ginger. Everyone gave their all. That’s what makes this project special”, Asurf said.

Burna Boy’s Creativity and Touch of Humour

Asurf also spoke fondly about his collaboration with Burna Boy, who served as one of the executive producers through Spaceship Entertainment.

Reflecting on his earlier experience working with the Grammy-winning star during his tour days, Asurf shared:

“Burna is a comedian! He’s not what many of those CVs online describe him as. He’s real, funny, and deeply creative”, he laughed.

He praised Spaceship Entertainment for their belief in his craft and for standing solidly behind the vision of 3 Cold Dishes.

“Spaceship is a company that respects my talent. Their support for this project means a lot”, he said.

A Story of Pain, Power, and Redemption

Written by Tomi Adesina, 3 Cold Dishes follows the story of three women who were forced into sex slavery by the very men they once trusted, only to reunite years later to seek vengeance and reclaim their power.

The film, directed by Asurf Oluseyi and executive-produced by Osas Ighodaro and Burna Boy, is not just a thriller; it’s a statement on survival, justice, and womanhood in the face of exploitation.

A Call to Watch

Asurf ended the session with a heartfelt plea to movie lovers:

“Tell a friend to tell a friend to go watch 3 Cold Dishes when it hits the cinemas. So much sweat, pain, and love went into this. We made this for Africa and for the world.”

3 Cold Dishes premieres November 7, 2025, in cinemas across Africa and the UK.
