Controversial Nigerian singer Terry G has set social media buzzing after he claimed that the devil was responsible for his rise to fame.
The “Free Madness” crooner made the shocking revelation while reacting to rumours of his death that circulated online earlier this week.
In a now-deleted video posted on his Instagram page, Terry G debunked the false reports of his death, assuring fans that he was alive and well.
“How una dey my people? Social media, ma pami now. My phone has been buzzing since morning. People have been calling to check on me that they saw something online about my R.I.P saying Terry G don die. I beg oo, whoever is trending that news should stop. I’m doing very fine, please stop that. I beg you in the name of God”, he said.
The singer also addressed his controversial remark from his appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he stated, “I sing for the devil. I’m falling short of the glory of God.”
Clarifying his words, Terry G said in Pidgin that his success came through the devil’s influence.
“And also, let me clarify this. There’s another one trending about me serving the devil. Una no know before? Una no know say na the devil I dey serve? Yes na devil I dey serve. Na devil make me blow (popular)”, he said.
His confession has since divided fans online; while some believe he was speaking metaphorically about the darker side of fame, others have taken his statement literally, sparking debates across social media.
