Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has opened up about one of the lesser-known pressures that come with fame; the need to constantly appear in new outfits.
In a recent interview on Naija FM 102.7, the “Cash App” crooner admitted that being a public figure means he can’t repeat clothes he has already worn publicly.
“As an artist, as a popular figure, you know say this cloth wey I don wear like this, I no fit wear am again”, Bella said.
His statement highlights how image and presentation have become a major part of celebrity culture, especially in the entertainment industry where public perception often shapes brand value.
Beyond fashion, Bella also addressed ongoing debates about Nigerian artists charging what some fans consider exorbitant performance fees. He broke down the high costs of making and promoting music, noting that it’s far from a cheap process.
“Making an album alone — just paying producers and everyone I worked with — is about $100,000,” he revealed. “Then I still have to shoot music videos, promote songs on radio, TV, and online platforms. That’s a lot.”
According to him, most people misunderstand how financially demanding the music business truly is.
“If I go for a show and I don’t charge something that’s beneficial to me in the long run or at least covers my cost of production, it’s not worth it. We’re not overcharging”, he added.
Bella urged fans to see things from the artist’s point of view, stressing that music is not just an art; it’s also a serious business.
