Nigerian comedian and actor, I Go Save, has publicly called out the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over their frequent night raids on hotels across the country.
In a post shared via his official Instagram story, the comedian I Go Save, known for his social commentary questioned the anti-graft agency’s motive for targeting hotels instead of focusing on the real “big thieves” draining the nation’s economy.
“@officialefcc why una dey always go raid hotels for night? Abi una dey find ashawo! The real big thieves looting the country are home; go after them and let us applaud you,” he wrote.
His comment comes amid public outrage following reports of EFCC operatives storming several hotels in different states at odd hours, allegedly arresting young Nigerians without proper warrants.
As expected, his post sparked massive reactions online, with many Nigerians echoing his sentiments.
A user, @snehrich3, lamented, “If na only this country remain for next life, I go jus dey heaven dey do angel.” @official_drshagz added, “When all of us tire for this country, we go adjust.”
Another user, @itzokun, wrote, “It’s getting tiring. They don divert from what they create them for.” @regina_anthony_ accused the agency of bias, saying, “Obviously, they’re protecting these politicians and their homes are off-limits.” While @king.size50 stated, “To lodge hotel now come risky pass.”
This is not the first time Nigerian entertainers have spoken out against EFCC’s operations. In recent years, public figures have repeatedly urged the agency to focus on high-level corruption rather than profiling innocent citizens based on appearance or social class.
