Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has opened up for the first time about her long-standing rift with fellow music star Tiwa Savage, revealing the emotional and shocking reason behind their fallout.
Speaking in a recent interview on the OffAir Show with Gbemi & Toolz, the Right Now crooner said she had no idea why her friendship with Tiwa suddenly ended, until years later, when she reconnected with her former personal assistant.
According to Seyi Shay, her ex-PA confessed to having an affair with Tiwa’s ex-husband, Tee Billz, a revelation that left her speechless and heartbroken.
“I honestly didn’t know why Tiwa and I stopped talking”, Seyi said. “A young lady I hired as a PA back when Didi was still managing me… after the whole salon experience, I moved to London to have my daughter. I saw this girl at the club, someone I hadn’t seen in about seven years. She hit me up on Instagram, we met for lunch, and she said, ‘I saw what happened and I’m really sorry. It was very detrimental to your career, and I feel like I’m the cause of it.’”
Seyi said the confession caught her off guard.
“To cut the long story short, it turns out the girl was having a relationship with my girl’s husband, and I didn’t even know”, she explained. “She told me everything, and I believed her because I don’t think she would say all of that as a joke.”
The singer admitted that after learning the truth, she finally understood why Tiwa was angry at her.
“When she told me this, I was disgusted because we were rolling together, doing things together, meanwhile Tiwa probably thought I knew about it. You can just imagine the anger. It’s so painful. If that was me, I would have done worse.”
The revelation has reignited conversations online, with fans recalling the viral 2021 salon altercation between the two stars that had social media buzzing for weeks.
