Joseph Aloba, father of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has called on the Lagos State Government to immediately prosecute his son’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba, the auxiliary nurse, and others indicted by the Coroner’s Inquest into the singer’s death.
In a petition addressed to the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner forgot Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), and signed by his counsel Wahab Shittu (SAN), Mr. Aloba urged that those responsible for his son’s tragic passing face justice without further delay.
The letter specifically demanded the prosecution of Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who administered injections to Mohbad shortly before his death in September 2023.
It also called for other individuals present in the apartment; particularly those who invited the nurse or failed to seek medical attention to be held accountable.
Referencing the Coroner’s verdict delivered in July 2025 by Magistrate Taofikat Shotobi, Aloba noted that the inquest found the nurse’s actions “unlawful and professionally negligent,” adding that the decision to treat Mohbad at home, rather than taking him to a hospital, was a fatal mistake attributed to his wife.
Despite these findings, Aloba’s lawyer lamented that, more than two months later, the Lagos State Government has not initiated any criminal proceedings against those indicted.
“Our client, as a bereaved father who seeks justice, is deeply troubled by the fact that, despite the clear indictments contained in the Coroner’s verdict, no prosecutorial steps have been taken since July 11, 2025,” the petition read in part.
The letter urged the Attorney-General to commence prosecution within 14 days, citing the sensitivity and public interest of the case.
Shittu further requested that if the state fails to act, his legal team be granted formal authorization to prosecute the matter on behalf of the state under the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State.
