Davido congratulates South Africa’s Tyla after Grammy loss

Singer Davido has congratulated South African female rapper, Tyla, for winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammy Awards ceremony.

ER had earlier reported that the Nigerian quintet of Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Davido, Asake and Olamide were snubbed at the 66th Grammys on Sunday, with Tyla, the only non-Nigerian nominee in the maiden Best African Music Performance category, picking up the award.

Tyla’s song, ‘Water’ came top against ‘Amapiano’ by Asake and Olamide; ‘City Boys’ by Burna Boy. ‘Unavailable’ by Davido featuring Musa Keys; and ‘Rush’ by Ayra Starr.

Davido took to his X handle on Monday to express his joy, despite losing out on all three nominations.

“Congratulations on your win @Tyllaaaaaaa! Big One for africa! Keep soaring!” he wrote.
