Why I joined Nollywood – Bimbo Ademoye
Actress Bimbo Ademoye has disclosed her motivation for joining the Nigerian film industry.
The Anikulapo actress stated in a Wednesday Instagram post that she pursued acting out of passion and that “making money off it was just an extra.”
While celebrating the release of her new film Big Love, which is presently the top-ranked title on Amazon Prime Nigeria, Bimbo made this revelation.
She wrote: “You guys make it worth it. I went into acting because of the passion, making money off it was just an extra (I love it though) but you see the love from you guys, NEVER envisioned it. It was not part of the plan. Now it’s funny how that love has become my biggest blessing as an actor, influencer and everything I am today.
“I’ve been getting amazing reviews since big love dropped on @primevideonaija and I’m forever grateful for you guys. Thank you to my G for life @_timini for Walking with me on the journey of bringing adina to life. Thank you to the entire cast and crew of big love for working tirelessly to make an amazing movie. I’m so grateful for you all. #biglove is still showing on prime video.
Bimbo Ademoye started her acting career in 2014 when she was cast in the short film Where Talent Lies. The film received accolades from the Africa International Film Festival. She describes filmmaker Uduak Isong as her mentor, who assisted her in getting into the industry. In 2015, Bimbo was cast in her first feature film Its About Your Husband, which was also produced by Isong.
The 32-year-old is popular for a lot of movies but gained global recognition after featuring in filmmaker Kunle Afolayan’s hit film Anikulapo.
Her other movies includes Sugar Rush, Breaded Life, Gangs of Lagos, Battle on Buka Street, The One for Sarah, Living with Baami, The Landlord and Sham to Glam.
