Pop star Tiwa Savage has postponed her first-ever headline show at the O2 Arena in London due to a viral infection that affected her voice.

The 43-year-old announced this in a statement via Instagram on Tuesday, where she stated that she has been fighting off the virus for the past few weeks and was instructed to be on strict vocal for the next few months.

Tiwa also apologised to her fans, promising to be back on stage once she is fully healed.

“To my dear Savage Soldiers, I’ve been fighting off a virus for the past few weeks and was today firmly instructed to be on strict vocal rest for the next few months. I will unfortunately have to postpone all performances including my first ever headline arena show in London. I’m heartbroken and devastated but I have to do this to save what’s left of my voice. I’m so sorry. I love you all and promise to be back performing once I’m fully healed,” she wrote.

Tiwa was among those who performed at the Arena in London alongside singer Asake during the latter’s concert. The duo performed their hit single ‘Loaded’.

In 2018, Tiwa became the first African female musician to sell out Indigo at the O2 Arena in London.
