How I attempted suicide when I left home – Ijoba Lande
Ijoba Lande, a comedian, has revealed that he attempted suicide by jumping into a river because he was depressed.
The comic, born Ganiyu Kehinde, went missing for days before being discovered alive by his family, who were assisted by actors and singers such as Mr Latin, Saheed Osupa, Saidi Balogun, Odunlade Adekola, and Wumi Toriola, among others.
Speaking in a live video on Instagram on Friday, Ijoba Lande said, “Nobody kidnapped me. I was not charmed. I thought it out myself and jumped into the river. I did that because I was told that the places where I have been to with cars I will go there on foot and it happened.”
Ijoba Lande claimed that he purposefully left his phone in the house before leaving so that he could not be reached. He also stated that the prayers said in his honour led him back home.
The video abruptly ended after he broke down in tears while on his knees pleading for forgiveness from his well-wishers.
On Thursday night, Ijoba Lande broke his silence about his whereabouts via his Instagram account.
He claimed that he was not kidnapped and that he left his house on his own.
He went on to thank his fans and colleagues for their support while he was away, admitting that he was depressed.
He said, “I appreciate everyone. They said almost everyone posted. I want to tell everyone that depression is real and I want to tell the whole world that nobody kidnapped me. I did it intentionally but thank God I am back.”
His brothers and aunt thanked all for their help and prayers.
