Social media activist VeryDarkMan, popularly known as VDM, has launched a sharp mockery of rapper Zlatan Ibile, claiming both the artist’s recent traditional wedding and new music project failed to generate the expected buzz. The comments come amid growing speculation of a fresh rift between the two after listeners linked a lyric in Zlatan’s new song to the activist.
In a post shared on his social media page, VDM did not hold back.
“Someone who did a whole wedding because he wanted to promote his album, yet the album didn’t blow, and the wedding didn’t blow,” he wrote.
He went further to question the publicity around the ceremony, arguing that entertainment blogs that covered it saw limited engagement.
“All the blogs that posted the wedding, no one entered 5k comments. All the PR, Vincent everywhere. If that song doesn’t stay No. 1 for one month, it will pain me,” VDM added.
The jab follows the release of the track “INFERNO” by Peruzzi featuring Zlatan and Shoday. In the song, Zlatan raps the line “I no be Vincent, I no fit masturbate,” which many fans quickly connected to VDM, whose real first name is Vincent. The lyric has fuelled talk of a pointed dig after years of underlying tension between the pair.
Zlatan and his longtime partner Davita Lamai held their star-studded traditional wedding on October 24, 2026, in Lagos. The colourful ceremony drew big names including Davido, Teni, Young Jonn, Peruzzi and others, with the couple showcasing elaborate traditional attire. The pair, who share two sons, had kept much of their relationship relatively private until the public celebration.
The current exchange sits against a longer backdrop of friction that dates back to the period following the death of late singer Mohbad. At the time, VDM had publicly pressed Zlatan to speak out about what he knew regarding the matter. Zlatan largely stayed silent then, and the latest lyric has now reopened those conversations online.
VDM’s latest remarks have drawn mixed reactions, with some users criticising the activist for focusing on personal digs while others see the back-and-forth as typical of Nigerian entertainment drama.
