“I Didn’t Want to Die!” — Broda Shaggi Recounts Stray Bullet Experience

Popular Nigerian skitmaker and comedian Broda Shaggi has finally opened up about the terrifying moment a stray bullet nearly ended his life while he was out filming in March 2026. The entertainer, whose real name is Samuel Animashaun Perry, shared the detailed account in a YouTube video, describing how an ordinary workday turned into a fight for survival.

Broda Shaggi explained that he and his crew had finished a brand activation and were already leaving the area near the Sango-Ota Bridge in Ogun State when traffic held them up. Suddenly everything changed.

“All of a sudden, all I heard was a loud bang. Everywhere was silent. But I could still see people moving outside, people talking, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. It was just total silence in the car,” he recalled.

He then touched his hip and saw blood, realising a stray bullet had struck him.

In that moment fear took over.

“I didn’t want to die. I just don’t want to die,” he said, admitting that surviving became the only thought running through his mind as his team rushed him for help.

The first hospital administered first aid before transferring him to another facility better equipped to handle the injury. He later underwent surgery in Nigeria and travelled to Dubai about four months afterward for further treatment and physiotherapy.

The recovery period proved emotionally crushing. Confined to hospital and limited in movement, Broda Shaggi said he felt completely useless because he could no longer act, dance or sing the way he always had. Watching his colleagues’ videos brought mixed emotions. Sometimes he laughed, yet other times the clips left him in tears as he worried that fans might forget him.

“I couldn’t imagine myself not being able to drop six skits in a month,” he confessed.

Despite the pain and uncertainty, he held on to hope and turned to writing content while working on a new YouTube series.

Looking back, the comedian remains grateful that the bullet struck his hip rather than a more critical area. He continues to use crutches for support while walking but can now stand on his own. The ordeal kept him away from regular public appearances for months and left a lasting mark on both his body and spirit.
