Nigerian comedian and actor Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule, popularly known as Okey Bakassi, has debunked a viral video claiming his wife is seeking a divorce after 15 years of him taking care of her and their children in the US.
The comedian addressed the reports on his social media page, describing them as false and deeply disrespectful. He clarified that he and his wife are still very much together and recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Canada. He also dismissed claims that his wife lives in Canada or works as a nurse.
“It’s so disrespectful and sad that, out of desperation to get views or create viral content, someone will go to the extent of spreading fake news about my very happy family,” he said.
He urged his followers to disregard the reports entirely.
“Please, my family, friends and fans, disregard any story that my wife and I are having issues. It’s the work of evil, senseless people.”
Bakassi also called on netizens to take action against the account responsible.
“Please help me report the originator’s page for this fake news on X (Twitter) for violating the rules.”
He closed with a firm assurance:
“My family is intact and in God’s hands.”
