“Theft!” — Yemi Solade Blasts GTBank Over Alleged ₦18k Charge

Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade is not happy with Guaranty Trust Bank, and he wants the public to know it.

The actor took to social media to call out GTBank after the bank allegedly deducted N18,000 from his account in service charges on Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day, October 1, 2026.

Solade, who says he has been a customer of the bank since 1995, described the deduction as theft and called on other affected customers to speak up.

“Today is Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day and you removed ₦18,000 — almost ₦20,000 — from my account in the name of service or maintenance charges. I have been with you since 1995, what did I buy from you? If you’re affected by this theft, by this oppression, let’s all call GTBank out,” he said.

The post has since gained traction online, with many Nigerians sharing similar frustrations about bank charges. GTBank had not publicly responded to the actor’s comments at the time of this report.
